Since His Majesty the King had gone to see Huay Sai Development and Learning Center at Cha-am district, Petchcaburi province on 5th April 1983, he had an idea that in the past, this area along with the neighborhood was once very fertile. There were waterfalls and rivers to be used all year long. However, as time passed by, the area was decaying and the amount of rainfall also decreased every year and it did not rain according to the season. Therefore, His Majesty the King was worried that this area would eventually turn into the dessert. His Majesty the King then ordered to develop this area which is around 26 million square meters to be the agricultural development and learning center. The center prioritizes afforestration to rehabilitate the forest in order to become fertile as in the past. On 26th June 1990, he had further idea to breed animals especially hog deers, which are local animals and can spend their lives in the forest. In order to carry out His Majesty the King’s idea, Special command Direct Division (Pharam VI Camp) and other government services join this project. Forest Department commanded animal Reservation Division to send the staff to conduct the caring and breeding animal center around Tao Poon hill, Sam Phraya subdistrict, Cha-am district, Petchaburi province. The project has been conducted since 1988.Huay Sai Wild Animal Caring and Breeding Center has over 480,000 square meters. In the past, the geological feature at Huay Sai Wild Animal Caring and Breeding Center is a decaying forest. The weather is neither too hot nor too cold. The average temperature is 27 Celsius and the average amount of rainfall is 55 millimeters per year. The geological data in general is the rough granite nite. Most of the soil is the soil mixed with sand. Huay Sai Wild Animal Caring and Breeding Center has many plants and trees both from restoring and newly planting such as Rosewood, Praduu, Sathorn, Maka Tew, Tiew, Taew, Jik, Ruak bamboo and other. The animals are wild chickens, various types of birds such as Oriental Magpie Robins, White-rumped Shamas and Red-watted Lapwings. Around the Huay Sai Wild Animal Caring and Breeding Center are Muslim and Thai-Buddhist communities. It will take around 3 hours. From Bangkok, take Phraram II road (Thonburi-Pak Toh) or Phuttamonthon which reachs Petcha Kasem road at Manaow Palace Y-intersection, Pak Toh subdistrict, Ratchaburi province. Then head for Petfchaburi province by taking Cha-am-Hua Hin route, pass Phraram VI and Naraesuan camp. Turn right at the 220th kilometer to Jom Phol road and pass Wat Huay Sai Tai. Drive for 4 kilometers and you will reach the center. For those who take a bus, there are buses from new South Bus Terminal every 30 minutes to go to Cha-am or Hua Hin district.
