Khao Chao Mae Thapthim Thong, a mountaintop beside Pran Buri River, is a very beautiful viewpoint of Pran Buri District, Prachuap Khiri Khan. From above, tourists can enjoy the top view of Pak Nam Pran village very clearly. Since this mountain resides Chao Mae Thapthim Thong Shrine, people call this place the Mount of Goddess Thapthim Thong. The shrine is located by Ban Tha Lat Kradan crossroad, on the hill near Pran Buri river. From Pran Buri Forest Park, go over a newly-cut road, across the mountain, you will find a tarred street. Just turn left there, and go straight for 1 kilometer, you will see a little hillock on the right. Then, follow the concrete road there leading up to the front of Chao Mae Thapthim Thong Shrine. Chao Mae Thapthim Thong is one of the holy sites in Prachuap Khiri Khan province. Inside enshrined the statue of Chao Mae Thian Ho Xia Bo or Chao Mae Thapthim Thong which is sacred and highly respected among Pak Nam Pran villagers. The legend has it that200 years ago, an old man on barque followed a treasure hint of Chao Mae Thapthim Thong, a Chinese lady expertised in the weather forecast. He wandered from his home in China to Thailand. As he arrived at Khao Chao Mae Thapthim Thong Shrine, he went up to the mountain, tracking the marks in the treasure hint. He finally found 2 ancient jars full of money. Out of his gratitude, he built Chao Mae Thapthim Thong Shrine there on the top of the mountain. Apart from opening daily for worshipping, at Chao Mae Thapthim Thong Shrine, tourists can also enjoy a beautiful landscape of the curved Pran Buri river, dense mangrove forests, and also the sight of Pak Nam village. For those who want to admire a wider striking panoramic scenery, just walk roundabout to the back of the shrine. Then, go on foot up to the hill for 30 minutes. From the top, tourists can get a view of Pran Buri river, and also a whole landscape of Amphoe Pran Buri all the way through Khao Sam Roi Yot as well.
