Phra Phrom Shrine

Phra Phrom Shrine (Phra Phrom or Brahma in Hinduism) is one of the sacred places in Prachuap Khiri Khan, especially respected by villagers living in Khao Takiap (Takiep Hill). The shrine is on Khao Sanamchai, Nong Kae, Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan. It is located 5 kilometers away in the west of Muang Hua Hin. Phra Phrom Shrine is open daily for faithful visitors to worship or take an oath here. The transportation is quite convenient. From Hua Hin, drive along Petchkasem Road until reach Soi Hua Hin 91. Enter the Soi, and go on for about 200 meters, you will see the entrance sign. Then, turn right, visitor will find the entry to Phra Phrom Shrine. Observably, along two sides of the street lies orderly delicate heart-shaped fences. On the right stands the statue of Kwan Yin Goddess. The history of Phra Phrom Shrine has it that Dr.Pussadee Jitchum began to renovate the shrine for the first time in 1987, until it finished in 1999. Inside enshrines the statue of 4-faced Phra Phrom turning to 4 different directions. The style of the shrine resembles the garden, the space is all connected and can be walked through easily. This allows the pleasant atmosphere, and cool breeze to flow through the area. Its structure also symbolizes didactic concept; 4 pools in 4 sides of the shrine signifies 4 typical elements: earth, water, air, and fire. Interestingly, there are 4 written boards telling the history of the 4 pools beside each of them as well. Moreover, since the front of the shrine has faced the sea, and the other 3 sides are surrounded by mountains, tourists can enjoy a terrific landscape of the beach, and admire a view of Hua Hin town as well.
