Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Park, Chaipattana Foundation

Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Park is located in Tambon Sam Phraya at Km. 214-215 on Phetchakasem Road, covering a total area of 340 rai. It was granted an Award of Excellence in the category of Agricultural Tourist attractions at the Thailand Tourism Awards 2002. It is operated by the Chaipattana Foundation with an aim to study the appropriate form of mixed cultivation for the local environment that once suffered deforestation and has been restored to its fertile condition. This has been done by providing a source of water side by side with planting. The result of successful experiments will then be transferred to farmers to enhance sustainable agriculture. There are several spots of interest for the public to visit; namely, mixed cultivation, New Theory farming, toxic free cultivation, organic cultivation, forest farming, use of vetiver grass in the planting system, use of herbal plants, etc. There is also a collection of plants with fragrant flowers, including 300 species of perennial, bushy, creeping and medicinal ones. Traditional Thai massage is available. (A group visit requiring a guide should contact in advance. Meals and accommodation can be provided.) It is open daily from 8.00 a.m.-5.00 p.m. Please contact the Somdej Phra Srinagarindra Park, Chaipattana Foundation, 77 Mu 6, Tambon Sam Phraya, Amphoe Cha-am, Phetchaburi 76120, Tel./Fax. 0 3259 3100, www.chaipat.or.th
