Wat Nong Hoi

Wat Nong Hoi is situated in Khao Raeng Sub-District, Muang District, Ratchaburi, about 12 kilometers away from the city. It was built in 1873. There are the monasteries of Guan Yim statue. It is 16 meters tall and 9 meters wide. People call this “Khao Jao Mae Guan Yim Wat Nong Hoi” which is on the top of the mountain. The other side of the mountain top (Khao Phra Yai) has Phra Buddha Rattana Kosin Maha Munee (Luang Pho Yai). Many people come to pray here. This temple is well known among people in the province and outside the province since it is very sacred. People always visit here, especially on holiday.There are 2 Guan Yim monasteries. The big one has Guan Yim statue in standing position, many times larger than normal people. There are altars for visitors who pray or give objects and also a large joss stick pot. There are also many statues of Chinese angels such as Cai Seng Ia Sung, the angel of luck and wealth, Phra Sangkajjai holding gold, and Ji Gong.The monastery provides golden joss sticks at the front side. It is 20 baht per 11 joss sticks. There will be a tag showing you where you have to put these golden joss sticks; 3 joss sticks for the angel of sky and land, 3 joss sticks for the guardian spirit near the monastery door, 1 joss stick for each side of the monastery door, and 3 joss sticks for 2 Guan Yim statues in the monastery. The big statue is gold. It is very elaborated. The face of Guan Yim is full of kindness. The little monastery also has similar Guan Yim statue but it is smaller. The other side of this monastery sells different sizes of Guan Yim statue for people who would like to pray at home.There is also the almshouse on the upper floor. People can donate for the vegetarian food that is provided. You can see all area from here.The temple is opened from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.By private cars, use the Public Highway No. 4 (Petchakasem Road), pass through the bridge (to Kanchanaburi), Turn right to Photaram District in the Public Highway No. 3080 for about 5 kilometers and then cross Mae Klong Bridge. When arrived at the intersection (left to Wat Khao Chong Pran, and right to Wat Kanon), turn left and use the Public Highway No. 3089 for 23 kilometers. There will be the left junction to Wat Nong Hoi. By public transportation, take a bus from the market in the city in front of Government Saving Bank, Ratchaburi-Nong Hoi Branch to the temple. There are taxis to the mountain top available.
