Suan Silp Baan Din is located at Jet Samian Sub-District, Photharam District, Ratchaburi. It is the place that compiles all kinds of the contemporary performing arts together under the guidance of Khru Lek Pattarawadee Meethuchon, the head of Thai’s Play. For example, xylophone performance, Thai traditional dramatic performance, Thai folk dance performance, Choi Song, E-Saew Song, Kiew Khao Song performances, etc. The performances have been designed and adapted by both Thai traditional song makers and the Thai technique theatre. The shows are pretty much perfectly mixed by the western contemporary performance as well as the old Thai traditional performance. Contemporary means following modern ideas in styles. This is why the classrooms provided by Suan Silp Baan Din are outdoor and are enclosed by little canals and mango garden. At first, the place was initiated in order to teach local kids about performing arts and Manop Meechumras is the one who taught and adapted the technique theatre to the subjects. Kids got to learn how to make a performance show by themselves as on lastest Songkran Day, Ratchaburi kids used teachnique theatre in their performance in flower tradition during Songkran closing ceremony. Nowadays, Suan Silp Baan Din by Dee Changmo become a small little theatre that offers Thai traditional dance courses, Thai musical classes, etc. only on Saturday.Besides, Suan Silp Baan Din is available for those who want to rent the theatre and the area to run the meeting or even a performance. The lodges provided by the place are made of clay and bamboo. The price is very affordable like 850 baht per night or even 600 baht per night. It is a perfect place for those who love nature and a simply life as you will get to experience slow lifestyle among the green rice fields with the sound of Thai traditional songs by the local kids. If you come at the last week of the month, you will get to see more of the contemporary arts at the market behind Jet Samian Train Station from 4 p.m. onwards. Suan Silp Baan Din and Pattarawadee theatre cooperated to create the event called ‘Sueb Sarn Ngarnsilp Bhumipanya kong phaendin-All About Arts.’ in order to be a chance for both Thai and foreign performers to perform their performing arts. The admission is free and the venue is at 100 years old market field which is actually a wooden building made during the reign of King Rama V. The event displays both contemporary and traditional performing arts. Also, the arts exhibition and the market are surrounded the area ready for you to explore!
