Thana Market or Nakhon Chaisri Market is located at Tumbol Nakhon Chaisri, AmphoeNakhonChaisri. The area is only some 40 kilometers of west Bangkok. The market has been preserved its heritage for more than 140 years. It has been established by people who immigrate to Thailand since King Rama I era and has been served as Nakhon Chaisri’s centre during King Rama X era. The name translates roughly as “Farm Port Market” due to its proximity near a river pier and within easy boating distance of countless agricultural fields. Since it sets on a scenic bank of Nakhon Chaisri river, Thana Market is convenient for boating traders. There is also the Ruam Mek bridge which unite local people from Thana Market and Ngiew Rai. Thana Market is currently packed with river restaurants and sell different kind of food such as steamed duck, kanhom pan yen, pragrimkaitao, bualoi and varies kind of fruits especially the famous Nakhon Chaisri’s pomelo and coconut. While the food is a major highlight at Thana, the antique shop is also a must place to visit.Among market attractions, there is Ama’sshrine which offer a free Chinese course. From Thana Market, there are some highlights like Wat Bang Phra, Wat Klang Bang Kaew, and Ton Son Market. Thana Market is now controlled under the Crown Property Bureau and is always renovated. The market still preserves its heritage and remains home to vendors for generations. There are antique architectures that can barely found nowadays such aswood buildings which aged around 90 years which have been preserved for new generation. Thana Market opens every day and crowded with people during weekends. How to get there By car First route: Take PetchKasem Road, turn right at the Thana intersection, then head to Thana Market intersection and turn right. In 300 meters you will meet a direct way on your left hand side. (Recommended route) Second route: Take Baromrajjonni road or Pinklao-NakhonChaisri, drive across ThaJeen Bridge. Make a U-turn onto BhuddaMontol route 7 and follow the NakhonChaisriSaiNai until you meet Thana market. Third route: Take BhuddaMontol route 4, drive pass Mahidol University Salaya, then take a mavadamized road onto NakhonChaisri Market. By Train Drop at NakhonChaisri station, then take a bus to the market.
