Animal Horn Museum
Animal Horn museum is located at 27/8 Moo.6, Pracharat Road, Taladkwan Sub-District, Muang District, Nonthaburi Province, 11000. This is Asia’s biggest museum. The owner is Mr. Prasert Srisanyong who has inherited most animal horns from his ancestors. Hunting was once one of the popular sports. The museum exhibits hundred thousands of animal horns and antique objects aged from 100 years to 16 million years old. The majority of the museum shows animal horns and skulls, especially in Thailand such as horns of guars, bantengs, and grey oxen. The outstanding pieces are the 2-meter-long tusks of mammoth which were found in the northeastern part of Thailand and the horns of schomburgk’s deer which was ranked to be the world’s most beautiful horns. They cannot be found in anywhere but in the central part of Thailand and they have become extinct for 150 years. This museum has a legal license. There are various benefits of studying horns including indicating the fertility of wild animals in the past, investigating the original habitat of the animals, dividing animal types, and knowing their ways of living and average age. For visitors, the museum is opened on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The ticket prices are 100 baht for adults and 50 baht for children.
