The Royal Folk Arts and Crafts Centre, which covers an area of 285 rai of land (or 14 acres), is a place where visitors can see the activities of farmers in the 4 regions of Thailand. Bang Sai Arts and Crafts Centre is situated by Chao Phraya River in Bangsai district. It was built by Her Majesty the Queen’s initiation with the purpose to promote and make sustainable income for people. Her Majesty has interest in local handicrafts made of local materials which creates differences and also unique characteristics. Teachers were assigned to train and improve the quality of the works. Finally it became Bang Sai Arts and Crafts Centre which is widely accepted in the domestic and international level like today. Interesting places in Bang Sai Arts and Crafts Centre Sala Ming Kwan, a 4-storey tetrahedron Thai style building. It is the product demonstration and selling center of Bang Sai Arts and Crafts Centre and also other Arts and Crafts Center all over the country. Exhibitions showing outstanding products are also organized here for people to see good and quality handicrafts by Thai people. Arts and Crafts village portrays lifestyle, house building and Thai art and culture from around the country. Dancing art and local recreation that might be rare to watch are collected to show here on weekends and public holidays, only one show at 4.30-5.30 pm. Arts and Crafts Training building is divided into 30 divisions such as woven silk, woven teen jok, furniture carpenter, oil painting, Thai painting, glass blowing, dressmaking, artificial art, Khon head making, Water hyacinth weaving, leather products, ceramic products, etc. Whether what kind of handicrafts you are interested in, this place has already prepared for you to see every type and step so that you can see the hard work of craftsmen that work patiently and neatly. Bird Garden. There are 2 big bird cages with arranged environment inside like forest such as trees and streams. More than 100 kinds of rare birds can be seen here. Examples are nicobar pigeon, great hornbill, hornbill, Common green magpie, Thai peacock, etc. Fish area. There are 2 fish tanks showing many freshwater fish including fish that nearly extinct and general fish. Examples are carp, archer, giant whipray, giant catfish, etc. Inside the building, there are paintings about Thai fish with descriptions. Opening hours are Tuesday-Friday 08.30-16.30.
