Mae Yao- Mae Sai Woodlot

Mae Yao- Mae Sai Woodlot

Mae Yao- Mae Sai Woodlot, officially named as Woodlot Conserve Office of Chiang Rai, is located in Doi Bo National Forest Reserve. It is named after the brook in front of the Forest Industry Organization (FIO)’s woodlot. It was built in 1988 after receiving the land from Chiang Rai Tam Mai Company Limited. At present, the land is renovated according to FIO structure in 2002 and is open for visitors. There are groups of steep mountains with only a few plains in this place; therefore, the scenery and the atmosphere are purely as warm and pleasant as mountain forest. At night, the visitors can hear the sound of crickets and running water. Besides, the weather is comfortably cool in winter and fresh with oxygen from all types of trees. This is a perfect place for nature lovers since they can enjoy not only walking, taking photos, and admiring the view, but they can also enjoy various adventure activities such as exploring the forest by riding an elephant, trekking, and swimming in Huai Mae Sai Waterfall. If the visitors walk a little further, they will find mixed Karen elephants and Huay Mark Liam Hot Spring. If continuing around 23 kilometers further, the visitors will reach Lam Nam Kok National Park. There are a lot of activities, such as walking through nature trails, taking boat to experience riverside lifestyle, and watching bonfire performance at night. The visitors will receive a warm welcome from the hospitable hill tribe people and receptionists. Moreover, Mae yao- Mae Sai Woodlot provides 4 houses of accommodation, each for 3 people and 350 baht per night. This is absolutely worth the wonderful natural atmosphere.
