Phabong Dam

Phabong Dam Phabong Dam is located at Tambon Phabong, Amphoe Mueang, Mae Hong Son. It is a dam in the middle of a mountain that occurs from the crustal plates. It separates Mae Lamadriver in order for this river to flow to the electric generator of the Mae Hong Son province. This dam is 12 kilometers from the south of Mae Hong Son. At the dam, there is a sala for relaxation with cool breeze flowing all the time, which is suitable for a family trip and a picnic. To travel here, follow the highway 108 which is like a curve up to the hilltop of Phapong. On the hilltop, there is a turn to the stopping point which is a wide field on the edge of the highway. There is a sala for relaxation and view point to see the scenery of the dam. The dam is surrounded by fogs and trees as a background. After viewing the beautiful view, the tourists can relax at the coffee shop of the hilltribe decorated in a unique style. Moreover, there are also souvenir shops for the tourists to buy. If the tourists want to bring their own tents, they need to contact the Electricity Generating Authority of Mae Hong Son. The Phabong viewpoint is on highway 108 at the 337 km. milestone (Chiangmai-Mae Saring-Khun Yuam-Mae Hong Son). If counting from Mae Malai-Pai-Mae Hong Son-Khun Yuam, it is the 249 km. milestone.
