Pavilion for King Rama V the Great at the front of Wat Khuean Daeng

Situated at 200, Ban Tha Ta Kui (Talat Tai) Moo. 1, Tambon Nakhon Sawan, Wat Khuen Daeng or Wat Si Suwan is an ancient temple built in the early Ayutthaya period around 1382. It has also another name called “Wat Talaengkaeng” since it used to be a confinement and execution venue. On 29 August, 1906 (Ro So 125), King Rama V the Great paid a visit to Nakhon Sawan and the army arranged the temple’s area for a temporary King’s Guard Command. The King also came to the pavilion at the front of the temple to judge the case according to the military court’s consultation to execute Ai Wim, a private who murdered a sergeant, which was the serious charge since the crime occurred during the King’s visit, if the punishment was mitigated, it might be an example for others to follow.
