Wat Chom Khiri Nak Phrot (Wat Khao)

Wat Chom Khiri Nak Phrot (Wat Khao)

Legend says that when rival Burmese forces sacked the ancient Ayutthaya kingdom for the second time, their leaders constructed this temple to profess a commonality with their foes: their Buddhist faith. WatChomKhiriNakPhrot, stationed between the foot of Dechatiwong Bridge and ChirapraWat Fort, also flaunts a gorgeous replica of Lord Buddha’s footprint.A temple fair is held during the twelfth lunar month of each year (usually in November) to pay respect to the footprint and daub fragile squares of gold leaf on the monument, along with boat races to commemorate the occasion. Distant views of the Dechatiwong Bridge, Chao Phraya River and Kop Mountain can be enjoyed atop BuatNak Mountain. To get there, take Highway No. 32 (Asian Highway) to the foot of Dechatiwong Bridge and turn left into the temple.
