Wat Khao Tam

Wat Khao Tam Wat Khao Tam is located in Baan Pae, Phaholyothin road, Moo 6, Tambon Mai Ngam, Amphoe Muang Tak, Tak province. It is under Mahanikaya Sect of Buddhsim. The temple covers the area of 82 rai, the north side is 304 meters long, adjoining to the land of Mrs.Amara, and Mr. Tham. The south and the east sides are 450 meters long, both attached to the military land. Lastly, the west side of the land is 505 meters long. The temple is situated at Khao Tam Cave, Phaholyothin road lies in the front, with 900 meter-wide junction leading to the temple entrance. It is convenient to reach the temple. Built in 1971, the ubosot is 10 meters wide, 18 meters long. There is a sermon hall built in 1967, with 16 meters wide, 20 meters long. There are 19 monk dwellings, 18 of them are wooden houses, the other is half brick-half wood building. As for the sacred items, the principal Buddha images are enshrined in the ubosot, and the sermon hall. Built in 1905, the stucco Buddha statue is in the east of the cave. The temple has the reproduced Buddha footprint for travelers to visit, and to worship as well. Wat Khao Tam was constructed in 1894. Since it is located in Khao Tam area, it has been called after the cave’s name as nowadays. Local people altogether built this temple. It received “Wisung Khamsema” on July 4th 1986. The area within the sema stones (boundary markers) is 12 meters wide, 20 meters long. The temple also teaches Dhamma studies to general Buddhists. Visitors can come to study Dhamma, and do the meditation here. We can say that Wat Khao Tam really enhances the visitor’s mind in the spiritual way.
