Textile museum at Naresuan UniversityTextile Museum at Naresuan University was established to be the center of Thai fabrics which displays, preserves and develops the fabrics of the Lower Northern Thailand. HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided the opening ceremony of the museum on December 1, 1999.Seeing the potentials and the importance of Textile Museum that could create tourism activities and help distribute Chitralada products, in 2000, the Tourism Authority of Thailand grant a budget to Naresuan University to improve the Textile Museum and construct the Life Museum to be the center for fabric weaving demonstration and a new cultural attraction of the Lower Northern Thailand.Textile Museum was previously under the Office of the President, Naresuan University, until on July 9, 2009 when the university council approved to merge the Naresuan University Cultural Center with the Textile Museum and established a new center, called “Institute of Mekong-Salween Civilization Studies, Naresuan University,” Textile Museum became a part of the institute since then.
