Tham Thong Beach

Tham Thong Beach Tham Thong Beach, also known as Bang Boet-Tham Thong Beach is a coastal dune located in Pak Khlong Subdistrict, Pathio District, Chumphon, between Khao Boet Hill in Ban Phu, Moo 5 and Khao Laem Yai Hill in Ban Tham Thong, Moo 3. As the largest and most beautiful sand dune in Thailand, the beach was used as a location for several TV commercials. Its peaceful atmosphere, natural beauty and unique landscape often raise some questions in visitors’ mind. You will wonder why hardly anybody visits here and why there are neither beach chairs nor five-star seaside accommodations except for Tham Thong Resort and Baan Kamnerdploy Resort. Also, there is not a single restaurant nearby. Therefore, it is a perfect place for those who seek serenity. Found along the curve shore is a 10-kilometre-long sand dune. Here you can discover untouched natural beauty without having to go to a faraway island. The area around the beach is well protected and conserved. The sand dune encompasses over 790 acres of land. Some dunes can be as high as 30 metres above sea level. The sand here is so fine that when you step on it, half of your calf will sink in it. Despite the sand dune, trees are found growing in sand here. These trees can prevent you from sinking in the sand and help you keep your balance when you step on the sand.Plants growing here are quite unique. Together, they form a sand dune forest. Over 160 kinds of plants native to this area and rare in other places are found. There are also plants that normally grow in swamp, beach, tropical rain and dry evergreen forests growing here. You will enjoy seeing and taking photos with all of these trees. Villagers here are mostly fishermen. Wharfs are situated near Khao Tham Thong Hill at the southernmost point of the beach.
