Wat Phra Buddha Bat Takpha Wat Phra Buddha Bat Takpha is situated at Ban Phra Bat, Tambol Ma Kok, Amphoe Pa Sang, Lamphun. The legend has it that in the time of Buddha, Lord Buddha had stayed at this temple which is located on a cliff and left his footprint here in order for the angels and believers to worship. He also had Phra Anon to hang his robe dry on the cliff nearby. Thus, the temple receives the name, “Wat Phra Buddha Bat Takpa.” (In Thai, ‘P’hra Buddha’ is Lord Buddha, and ‘takpha’ means to hang the clothes dry.)One thing that visitors should not miss is to visit the footprint of Lord Buddha which is housed in the vihara. And the spot where Lord Buddha had his robe hung dry is near Dharma School or Phra Pariyatidham School.Apart from the footprint’s vihara, the temple compound also has other beautiful places such as another vihara containing 5 Buddha images, the vihara housing Buddhist saint’s footprint, the Buddha relics, and the pagoda called “Si Kru Ba” which is located on the hill at behind the temple. Si Kru Ba Pagoda or Phra That Chedi Si Kru Ba is a bell-shaped Lanna-styled pagoda which is influenced by Phra That HariPhun Chai. There is a Naga staircase of 469 steps connecting the temple and the pagoda which is up on the hill. Although the way up to the pagoda seems tiresome, the pagoda is worth all the effort because not only the pagoda, but also the panoramic view of Lamphun that is waiting for visitors up there.Visitors can visit the temple via Highway No. 106 (Lamphun-Lhee). When reaching 136th-137th kilometer, turn left and go further for 1 kilometer until you see the temple.Wat Phra Buddha Bat Tak Pha opens everyday from 8 a.m.-4.30 p.m. The admission is free.
