Chaiya National Museum

Chaiya National museum is located in Tambon Wiang, opposite Wat Phra Borommathat Chaiya Ratchaworawihan. This is a national museum in the category of history and archaeology. The first building on the front part displays stone and bronze sculptures excavated from the old town of Chaiya; such as, statues of Vishnu and the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara. The second building exhibits pre-historic evidence and artefacts from the proto-historic periods of Dvaravati, Srivijaya, down to Lop Buri, Sukhothai, and Ayutthaya. Besides, many fine arts are on display. The Museum is open to the public from 8.00 a.m.-4.00 p.m.; it is closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and national holidays. Admission is 100 baht.
