Is a famous fishing village of Phatthalung, which is located in Tambon Chong Thanon. It is a tourist spot that impresses visitors by its location, which features a cape jutting into Songkhla Lake. Apart from being a viewpoint 14 Phatthalung for admiring the beauty of Songkhla Lake, which consists of various islands, it is a perfect point to see a spectacular sunrise. The “fishermen’s way of life” is another magnet to draw tourists. Although the number of fishermen has drastically declined, the villagers here have still adhered to local fishing, which is outstanding and unique. Obviously, many “Phongphang” or local fish traps have been built in the lake. Furthermore, it will be an opportunity for tourists to witness “Lom Mam” or a unique way of fish catching, which represents the wisdom of Songkhla Lake. Fishermen will cut trees and plant them in the water where there is an abundance of fish. The wood sticks are left until it is ensured that numerous fishes come to live in the area. Then, a fish net is used to surround and gradually narrow the area, while the wood sticks are removed out of the surrounded area. An activity that one cannot miss in visiting this village is to sample fresh seafood from Songkhla Lake, be they shrimp, mantis shrimp, shell, crab, mullet, or sea catfish, and white bass, which is famously found here.
