NartheenVillage

NartheenVillage is located in the Ao Nang Sub-District of Mueang District. This area used to be farms for thepeople of Klonghaeng. The reason this area was called “Nartheen” is because of the inconvenient commute. When the community was established around 80 years ago, the villager had to walk to the farms every day. This is the origin of the name “Baan Nartheen”, which in Thai means farms on the south side (or the toe side) . Most of the villagers believe in Islam, work in rubber plantations, and fishing as a supplementary career. This village is considered to be a conservation travel destination, offering homestays for tourists to closely experience the nature. The village is renowned for its handicraft products made from beautiful coconut shell, which started from the development of coconut shell made products by a group of village’s youngsters as a way to generate extra income. The products have since become more developed after receiving supports from the government’s product development agency. Moreover, there are many handicrafts from different groups of villagers available such as Batik products, coconut shell products, and pineapple tissues products, for example, that are processed and transformed into various souvenirs. Additionally, Thai Longtail boat replicas, which are considered to be five stars workmanship products, have received many interests from tourists. Travelling from Krabi province to Baan Nartheen could be done via highway 4202. Travel approximately 14 kilometers, about 1.5 kilometers before reaching NopparatThara beach, turn right onto a shortcut to KhlongMuang. The center will be on the right hand side after 1 kilometer. If travelling from Ao Nang, take highway 4203. When reach NopparatThara beach, turn right onto highway 4202, then turn left onto the same shortcut to KhlongMuang.
