Thai-style Kuti at Wat Wang Tawan Tok Thai-Style Kuti (Thai-style monastic residence) or a hundred-year Kuti is one of the historical and memorial attraction located in Wat Wang Tawan Tok, Ratchadamnoen Road, Amphoe Muang Nakhon Si Thammarat, Nakhon Si Thammarat. It is 3 traditional Thai wooden houses in “Ruen Kruang Sab” style. The gables of all houses are connected, and the walls were constructed of carved-wooden plank (Pa-Kon). The door-window panels, and the vent holes were decorated with unique designs of Muang Nakhon. The middle Thai-style house is an open hall, connected to 2 other floor-lifted houses as its wings on each side. The Kuti was roofed with unglazed ceramic tiles. Attached to the Kuti in the south is a kitchen, which was subsequently moved here. The construction of the Kuti took 13 years until being completed in 1992.Nowadays, the balcony of the Kuti laid with cement links the 3 traditional Thai houses and the kitchen together. The walls were carved-wooden plank (Pa-Kon), engraved with various patterns; person with protruded wings and designs of the refined branches of trees, a face with flower stalk as the body. Also, the upper part of the window panel was engraved in cluster of vine (Kruea Thao), and geometric patterns. The Kuti floor was lifted to allow the air flow.The Association of Siamese Architects has chosen Thai-Style Kuti at Wat Wang Tawan Tok as “the Best Conserved Architectural Building” for the sacred place & monastery type. Normally, this monk residence is not always open for visitors. If any tourists interested to pay a visit, you may ask the temple abbot for the key to get in. TransportationTourists can travel by bus to the Thai-Style wooden Kuti at Wat Wang Tawan Tok, Ratchadamnoen Road, Amphoe Muang Nakhon Si Thammarat, Nakhon Si Thammarat. They can take a Song-Taew (two-row seated bus)-Route: Hua Tanon to the Stadium. The buss will drive pass Wat Wang Tawan Tok. It charges only 10 Baht per person.
