Ban Plai Castle

Ban Plai Castle

These Khmer ruins were onceused to honor the God Shiva. Three brick stupas (also known as pagodas) are surrounded with a moat, except on the east side. Although the Shiva Linga and some lintels are missing, remaining artifacts, which are now kept at Phimai National Museum, indicate that the ruins were built in 11th century. The ruins are located at Ban Prasat, Tambon Chuea Phloeng, and 22 kilometres from Surin town. Seven kilometres before reaching Amphoe Prasat, turn right onto an asphalt road for 3 kilometres to reach the historic site.
