Huai Kum Dam

Arriving in the northern region, one would think of a management- and holiday-based tourist attraction that cannot be other places but large and small Dams, especially in Chayaphum province. Anyone visiting Chaiyaphum must traditionally include Chulabhorn Dam in one’s destination list. However, the beauty, scenery and benefits of Huai Kum Dam are not less than that of Chulabhorn Dam. Huai Kum Dam is located at Ban Pak Huai Kum, Tambon Nong Phon Ngam, Amphoe Kaset Sombun, Chaiyaphum. It is 32 km. from the district office and 102 km. from Chaiyaphum town. The dam is in the lower part of Chulabhorn Dam (Nam Phrom Dam). It is an earth core rockfill dam, 35.5 m. in height with a crest at +316.5 m. above mean sea level. The crest length is 282 m. and width is 8 m. with a capacity of 340,000 m? Located in a conservation area, it is an earth dam built with the aim of receiving water from Chulabhorn Dam to be stored for agricultural activities. In addition to its benefits, its tourism, nature and viewpoint are not seconded to any dam. Surrounded by beautiful nature and fresh environment, it makes visitors impressed and amazed. It is regarded as one of significant tourist sites of Chaiyaphum, which one can stop at the same time when visiting Huai Kum Dam.
