Kaeng Kabao

Kaeng Kabao, a cataract in the middle of the Mekong River, is located in Tambon Pong Kham. During the dry season from January-May, when the level of the water reduces, the cataract is visible with a sandbar by the river on which visitors can stroll around. Besides that, tourists are allowed to walk on a long rock islet as well. On the riverbank, the Phaya Si Phuchong Mukda Nakkharat Naga statue is situated in the middle
of a small park. Beside the Naga statue, there is a huge rocky area, which is a relaxing place to enjoy the scenery of the Mekong River. The well-known local dish is “Kaeng Kabao roasted suckling pig”, which is served in restaurants on the Mekong riverbank.
