Kaeng Lamduan or Kaeng Lamduan Waterfall is located in the area of Ubon Ratchathani Wildlife Conservational Promotion and Development Station in Ban Khae Don, Dom Pradit Sub-district, Nam Yuen District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, which is approximately 16 kilometers from the city center of Nam Yuen District. Kaeng Lamduan Waterfall is where the water flows along the rock islets for around 200 meters and is a part of the Lam Dom Yai River. It is surrounded by various types of plants, especially Lamduan trees. The waterfall is named after a number of Lamduan trees in the area. Due to the natural beauty of rock islets and the clean water, there are a lot of tourists visiting Kaeng Lamduam every day.The interesting activities in Kaeng Lamduan are swimming among the shady atmosphere and walking along the provided route to see the nature in the caves and islets. More specially, during the late of August and the middle of September, the tourists will see the amazing phenomenon called “Parading Shrimp.” Millions of tiny freshwater shrimps unite to parade on the rock terrace along the edge of the islets, heading to the high peak of Phanom Dong Rak mountain range. These shrimps go parading at night after the heavy rain or in the rapid river.Because there are a lot of rainfalls during the time when the shrimps go parading between August and September, there may be flash flood. As a result, the tourists should beware of danger and listen to the warning from Ubon Ratchathani Wildlife Conservational Promotion and Development Station. The station has installed news broadcasting towers at both the station and Kaeng Landuan. These towers can warn the tourists right after receiving the report of water level from the watching point.
