Phaya Thaen Public Park

According to the beliefs of the often drought-stricken Northeastern (Isan) region, a deity named Phaya Thaen controls the rain. As such, each May, rockets and fireworks are launched to please the deity.The park is surrounded by a winding stream and comprises a beautiful garden, outdoor stage, playground and health park. Fairs and festivals are also held here, including the previously mentioned Annual Rocket Festival, the annual boat race, and the water festival (Songkran). Phaya Thaen Public park is in the Mueang district near Lamthuan Reservoir. To get there, take Highway No. 23 (Chaeng Sanit Rd).
