Phimai National Museum

Pimai National museum is located in the center of Pimai district which is nearby Tha Song Kran Bridge. It is situated 300 meters right before Prasat Hin Pimai and situated 60 kilometers away from the center of Nakhonratchasima town. The museum displays the archeological evidences and exhibits the story about the growing of North eastern culture in the past. Also, it brings out ancient remains which were found nearby the lower part of north eastern. The ancient remains that were displayed at the museum are as follows: old clay potteries, ancient human skeletons, ancient tools made of stone and bronze, boundary of a bot in Dhavarawadee style, Khmer style lintel, Khmer style pediments, holy sculptures as well as the monument of King Chaiyaworaman VII which is actually the highlight of this museum as it was explored nearby Prasat Hin Pimai. The museum is divided into three zones: The first zone: the upstairs zone displays the revolution of North eastern community such as history, origin, civilization, beliefs and other cultural influences which dominated north eastern part of Thailand since the prehistory period until today. The second zone: the downstairs zone displays Khmer ancient remains excavated from north eastern Thailand. The third zone: the hall exhibits ancient architectural items which were made of sandstone such as lintel, decorating pillars, door frames, imitation of stupa and as well boundary of a bot and the beautiful lintel. The museum opens only on Wednesday to Sunday from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. It will be closed on Monday and Tuesday as well as on the holiday.
