Prang Ku

Prang Ku

It was built in the reign of King Jayavarman VII in dedication to “Bhaisajyaguru” or the Medicine Buddha. Prang Ku is a stone sanctuary from the Khmer period with a plan characteristic to the Arogayasala or nursing home constructed in the 12th-13th century. There is a main Prang located at the center, a Wihan or Bannalai (Library) at its front surrounded by a laterite wall. Outside the wall at the northeastern corner lies a pond. The main Prang is in a 5-metres wide square shape with 12-recessed corners. At its front is an entrance constructed as an antechamber, while the other 3 sides of the wall are false doors. Above the one in the north is a lintel of a bas-relief Buddha image in the meditation posture sitting on the Kala holding the garlands with both hands. There is an annual fair in the 5th lunar month of each year.
