The Monument of Krommaluang Prachaksinlapakhom

The Monument commemorates Krommaluang Prachaksinlapakhom, born in 1856 to King Rama IV and the King’s Consort Sangwan. As Krommaluang Prachaksinlapakhom (whose position “Krommaluang” translates as Prince Major General) he ruled the northern part of Thailand as a regent to King Rama V from 1893 to 1899. He founded Udon Thani town in 1893. As regent, he established the civil administration and served important official duties for the region. The monument symbolizes the respect paid to the prince by the people of Udon Thani. A ceremony to honor him is held on January 18th every year. This monument is located in the heart of Udon Thani town.
