Vessantara Jataka Public Park

The park is at Ban Noi Hua Fai, Rob Mueang sub-district, Mueang Roi Et district, Roi Et, 10km. from Roi Et town heading to Chaturapak Piman district. It is built to support the possible economic development of Roi Et and also serves as the tourist attraction and the place where Roi Et people can relax and exercise. The park is bounded by the large lagoon and decorated with the beautifully-designed statue of Vessantara of 13 chapters: Thossaphon, Himaphan, Thannakhan, Wanapawes, Chuchok, Chulaphon, Mahaphon, Kuman, Matsi, Sakkabap, Maharat, Chokasat and Nakhonkan. Thai people have known and learnt Vesstantara Jataka for a long time. It tells the story of one of Buddha’s past lives. The story is not only fun, but also gives moral lessons. The statues are beautiful and also makes young people interests more in Thai folklores. The construction costed about 28,700,000 baht and built by the Roi Et Provincial Administrative Organization in 2545.
