Wat Pho Si is one of the important temples in Nakhon Phanom located near the Khong River. The temple is where Phra Thong, a bronze Buddha image in the gesture of subduing Mara built in the Lan Chang-style, is located. It is popular among tourists who visit Nakhon Phanom. wat pho Si is located on Sunthornwichit road near the Khong River. Phra Thong, a bronze Buddha image in the gesture of subduing Mara built in the Lan Chang-style during Ayutthaya period, is located inside the head monk’s residence. In the past, Phra Thong is watered on Songkran Day, but there was a heavy rain and storm every time. Later, they changed into other Buddha image. Nowadays, Phra Thong is watered on the full moon day of the 6th lunar month in front of the temple. Also, during the end of Buddhist lent, local people will give bee castle to the temple; the event is called Phra Thong-Phra Tiam Water day at Wat Pho Si. To visit, take the road following the Khong River. You can both see the beautiful view of the Khong River and Laos scene from afar. Wat Pho Si is considered one of the ancient temples in Nakhon Phanom where local people respect and often pay homage to.There are also great restaurants available for tourists, so they will not only make merits but also taste a delicious dish on the trip. Wat Pho Si is open every day even on public holidays.
