Wat Sa Thong

This temple houses a highly revered, sacred Buddha image called Luangpho Phra Sangkatchai (Kaccayana). The statue’s exact date of construction is not known, though it was discovered by the founder of Roi Et in 1782. The leader, known as Phraya Khattiyawongsa (Thon), designated it the town’s main Buddha image and moved it to its present location. In the past, civil servants traditionally made oaths before the image to work transparently and without corruption. The temple is located in Amphoe Mueang Roi Et within the town, on Hai Sok Road.
