Covering a vast tract of forest land, the Zoo is located approximately 20 kilometres south of Chon Buri from Sukhumvit Road. Dubbed as the biggest man-made zoo with the largest area of nearly 200 acre, Khao Kheow Open Zoo is home to 300 types of animals with total 8,000 animals in the zoo. It ranges from locals animals to safari origins. It was built in 1974 by transforming decadent forest on hills in Sriracha district to be a center for animal research and preservation as well as a tourist attraction. Visitors can get close to the animals inside this gigantic outdoor zoo that designs each site matches to animal habits.
