Phra Phutthabat Tham Pha Bing

Tham Pha Bing is located at the hill in the area of Wat Tham Pha Bing. It is a giant Buddha’s footprint that is different from other Buddha’s footprints since it is located at the ceiling of the cave above or head instead of on the floor. Phra Ajarn Mun Phurithatto has lived here 2 times, in 1911 and 1918. He is the one who pointed the Buddha’s footprint out.Location and travelling: It is located in the area of Wat Tham Pha Bing, Pha Bing Sub-District, Wang Sa Poong District.Travelling by private cars, from Wang Sa Poong District, use the Public Highway No. 201 to the Highway No. 2250 and go straight for about 7 kilometres. Wat Tham Pha Bing is on the right hand side. The cave is in the temple’s area.By public bus, use Wang Sa Poong-Na Gae bus route and get off at Wat Tham Pha Bing.By taxi, hire a taxi at Wang Sa Poong Market. The fee is 150 baht. the Buddha’s footprint is on the ceiling in the area of overhanging rocks where the Buddha’s statue is located. Visitors should walk to the statue and turn back to see the footprint which is about 4 kilometres above. The footprint is 1 meter long and 0.5 metre wide. The art of the pattern and the footprint is not so obvious. Department of Fine Arts has registered this place to the ancient object and place of Thailand along with Phra That Sri Song Rak in 1955. Wang Sa Poong District arranged the cerebration here every year on the 15th day of the waxing moon in the 3rd or 4th month in lunar calendar (about March).
