Wat Nakorntum

Wat Nakorntum is located near the municipality district of Wattananakorn and Provincial Police Station of Wattananakorn, Tambon Wattananakorn, Amphoe Wattananakorn, Sa kaeo. It is around 1 kilometre away from the train station and Suwansorn Road.There was no clear evidence when this temple was built. However, the original name was “Wat Sralop” then it was changed to Wat Nakorntum as a dedication to the Provost Vivat Nakorntum, who is an important person to the temple. Inside the temple, there are statues of “Father Khao” or “Father Poon” in the lotus position. This statue was built from lime with more than 100 years old with the width 130.9 cm. and height at 199 cm. Father Khao is popular for his sacredness. It was told that during the invitation of Father Khao from Wat Rang Baan Jik in year 1925, there was a phenomenon, the monks saw tears running down from the statue together with a heavy rain. Moreover, there are other interesting ancient remains inside the temple such as the Buddha’s footprint and the Buddha’s relics that were invited from Wat Pamadulla Rachamahaviharn, Rattanapura, Sri Lanka. For the tourists who want to visit this temple, can travel by the Bangkok-Aranyaprathet Bus and get off at Amphoe
Wattananakorn. Then, take another bus to the temple for around 900 metres. Another option is to travel by train (Bangkok-Aranyaprathet) and get off at Wattananakorn Station. Then, take the bus to the temple for around 800 metres. This temple is opened daily from 6 a.m.- 7 p.m. For more information, contact 0 3726 1190.
