Wat Kluay

Wat Kluay is located at moo 11, tum bon Kamang, am phoe Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. It was built in Ayutthaya Period around 1657, in the reign of King Narai the Great. It lies near River Pa Sak outside Koh Muang.Wat Kluay is historically important of Ayutthaya Period as it initially was the centre of marine trading and Northen people’s trading vessel dock and King Tak Sin the Great’s battle field and military camp. Inside the temple there is the old ubosot, made of stones in Ayutthaya Period, with the main Buddha image made from brass containing sacred things. The new ubosot displays Buddha relics and many famous monks’, “Phra Kru” in Thai, e.g. Buddhist saints in Buddha’s lifetime, Luang Pu Man Puritatto’s hair and Luang Pu Tesk Tesrungsi’s bones.People can pay respect to and see them near especially Phra Kru Intawudhikorn (Tuan Intapanyo)’s, an ex-abbot whose bones have turned into relics in many shapes and colors despite the fact that they came from one body.The temple is next to River Pa Sak so there is waterfront pavilion you can relax and release fish and feed them here. Famous Rua Noodle diner is also here. Don’t miss eating tasty noodle in breezing waterfront pavilion.For travelling guide, if driving from Bangkok along Asia Road, when arriving Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya’s downtown Chedi roundabout will be in sight. Then turn left and go straight pass the railway and there will be a little road along the track. Turn right and go straight further 500 metres, the temple will be on the left.
