This temple has been called by many names such as Wat Phra That Sala Khao, Wat Maha That, Wat Phra That Suan Daeng, Wat Phra That Nok, etc. The reason why people keeps calling this temple by the name of Wat Phra That Suan Daeng is that Wat Suan Tang and Suan Tang Market is only a kilometer far. While, the reasom why it was called by the name of Wat That Nok is because people do not want the name of this temple to be the same as Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat, Rua Yai Sub-District, Muang District, Suphanburi and the stupas of these two temples are very similar.
