Sa Koen Cave national park cover from end range of hills at Luang Phrabang Mountain area till Lao area. The nature still rich of forest, large cave, beautiful waterfall and sea of fog viewpoint. Total area is 156,187 Rai or 249.90 square meters. It located in Songkwae of Nan, Chiangkam and Pong of Payao. In the year 1996, Mr.Wittaya Hongwiengjan, forest technician level 5, leader of Doi Pooka National Park at nan, surveyed Sa Koen Cave National Park’s area and surrounding area which in Pa Namyao and Pa Namsuad National Forest of Nan. He found that the forest condition still abundantly and to be river source area 1A class. There are many main points of nature which cover area around 280,000 Rai. It proper for set as national park. So he reported to Royal Forest Department. Royal Forest Department commanded Mr.Tanasart Wiengsarawin, forest technician level 5 of Srinakarin Dam National Park, who worked at Namnao National Park, to survey forest data in detail whether that proper to be national park. Since July 5, 1996, it set to be national park and he also be leader of national park. Next Royal Forest Department ordered Mr.Pradit Lertluxsirikul, forest officer level 5 of Srinakarin Dam National Park to replace Mr.Tanasard Wiengsarawin by started from August 5, 1999. He surveyed national forest’s area: Namyao forest and Namsuad forest (Announced to be national forest on February 11, 1988) in order to set as national park later. Now committee of national park agreed to establish national park. Next in April, 2016, there was act to determine area of Nayao, Namsuad, Nampuei, Namyuan, Lao River amd Maeyom in Payao area. Area around 249.8992 square meters or around 156,187 Rai by announce in the Act on April 21, 2016. The national park has room and camping area available to service. Price of room and camping area is 500-1,500 Baht. No entry charge. However don’t any restaurant, tourist should prepare your own food.
