Pu Yu Island is a small sub-district that is next to the Thailand-Malaysia border and is a sub-district that is peaceful and fertile with natural resources and is surrounded by cliffs and islands. Yao Island, ParatMana Island, GaLarb Island along to Tarutao Island, Ar Dung Island, and Lipe Island along to Langkawi Island in Malaysia are islands that are known and popular for the tourists. Pu Yu sub-district has a total area of 39,450 Rai. Most of the topography is mangrove forest and is an island. The south is Malaysia, the west is connected to the Andaman and Thale Ban National Park. The mountains spread widely; the seaside is plain landand has mangrove forest with a lot of aegicerascornicalatum. Pu Yu Island is only 17 kilometers away from Satun city. The boat ride to Pu Yu Island is only 15 minutes. It is 7 kilometers away from Perlis, Malaysia and around 20 kilometers away from Langkawi Island. The period of time that is suitable for taking a vacation at Pu Yu Island is all year round except monsoon season with heavy rain. Interesting attractions1.Tham Lord (Lord of Pu Yu Cave)It was originally from local language “Kayang”. Tham Lord is a location where villagers of Pu Yu used as food source ever since long ago and it is also beautiful in its natural scenery. In present day, the cave is well known to both Thai and foreign tourists as the land of fertility. It is suitable for kayaking, canoeing, bird watching, forest visiting, and also there is preservedhouseboatfor tourists who want to relax and experience pure nature.The transportation to Tham Lord Yu Pu can be by catching a boat to Tum Malang Port, which is 9 kilometers from city center. From Tum Malang Port, you can rent a longtail boat to Tham Lord on Tha Cheen Canal. The fee is about 400-500 baht (depends on the boat size and amount of tourists)2.Tham Morakot (Emerald Cave)It is one of the attractions well known by villagers as Mul Kangkao Cave. In the past, this cave was for the villagers to collect bat excrement to sell to the middleman and also location to stay overnight when villagers can’t go back to the village. In present day, tourists are allowed to light up a fire to tent out overnight without any harm.Now, Tham Morakot has a characteristic like a foyer, though, the fascination is in the cave that is the rocks. When light hits the rocks, the rocks changes its color to emerald green that looks like an emerald. And there are stalagmite and stalactite that are over many hundred years inside the cave. More importantly, Tham Morakot has a viewpoint for tourists to climb up and experience the beautiful scenery. When you look down, the view is compared as Thailand’s New Zealand.
