Ban Phluang Khmer Ruins were once a religious haven, though the stone carvings still visible and beautiful centuries later. In 1972, all parts were disassembled, strengthened and reassembled. Facing east, the area’s only stupa stands on a large rectangular laterite base, with three decorative doors and one functioning door. It is surrounded bya U-shaped moat. What’s left of the huge reservoir (Barai in Thai) nearby indicates that a community once thrived around the stupa. Similar to smaller stupa of Phanom Rung Khmer Ruins, the ruins were built in the Khmer Bapuan style, dating back to the 11th or 12th century. The ruins are located in Ban Phluang, Tambon Ban Phluang.
