Phra Khattiya Wongsa (Thon) Monument

This statue Monument is located at the center of the Sai Nam Phueng Roundabout, which is near the RoiEt College of Dramatic Arts. The depicted Phra Khattiyawongsa (Thon) was the son of Thao Chan Kaeo, a high-ranking royal appointee. He was chosen to be the first ruler of RoiEt in 1775 during the reign of King Taksin the Great. The historic leader also founded the city by bringing in settlers from Mueang Thong to Mueang Roi Et (also called Mueang Kum Raeng). He is considered a great ruler as he was able turn Roi Et into one of the most prosperous cities in the Northeastern region.
