Wat Thipphayaratnimit (Wat Pa Ban Chik)

Wat Thipphayaratnimit (Wat Pa Ban Chik)

This forest temple, located in Amphoe Mueang, is shady and pleasant. Inside the compound is a large pagoda, believed to contain Lord Buddha’s relics. Interestingly, the pagoda is shaped like Thanan, an ancient ceremonial utensil. A portrait of Luang Pu Thira Chitthammo, the present abbot, is displayed alongside Buddhist monks’ basic living utensils in the pavilion. On the 14th waxing moon day of the 12th lunar month, a robe offering ceremony (called ThotKathin) and merit-making rites are performed to celebrate the abbot’s birthday anniversary each year. This temple is located on Naresuan Road, Tambon Mak Khaeng, off the main road and into Soi San Chao Mae Thapthim and opposite to a vocational school.
