Nong Han

Nong Han

This extensive lake, covering an area totaling more than 30,000 acres, is fed by many streams before flowing into Kam, a tributary of the mighty Mekong, in NakhonPhanom province. Its depth varies between 3 and 8 meters, and is an essential part of agricultural industry, livestock farms, and the fish farms surrounding it. More than 20 islets populate the lake, such as Ko Don Sawan, where a deserted temple and ancient Buddha images are located.Lush forests on the islets make them a welcome habitat for many species of birds. The other islets of KoKaeo and Ko Don Sakhamhave great pavilions, perfect for rest and relaxation. Another islet,Ko Don Sathung is surrounded with golden freshwater weed, which reflect the sunlight and glow. Nong Han is located in AmphoeMueangSakonNakhon (the province’s main town district.)
