It is located at Tambon Bangchan. Ko Chik is a pilot project for renewable energy from solar energy as well as electric generations for more than 100 houses on the island. It collects electricity charge by refill cards. Most residents are fishermen, fish farmers and dried shrimps seller. Using Sukhumvit Road to T-junction heading for Ko Chang Ferry Pier, you have to turn right along the Ko Change Ferry Pier then turn right towards Ao Kropong. Tourists can park their cars at the pier then get in a boat, crossing for Ko Chik. The attraction of Ko Chik is homestay travelling and having fresh seafood at low price. People know one another as the island is small and suitable for taking a rest. Ko Chik was a fishermen’s village (around 100 years ago) and peaceful. Almost all men in the village went out for fishing, the rest on the island were women and children. Ko Chik is appreciated as there is a council managing electric energy and environment including garbage management system which can be a model for other islands. The tourists who are interested in homestay cannot miss this because they will feel simple ways as a peaceful noonday in delightful sunshine. It tourists walk to another side of island or the east by passing a temple, school and water tank, they will see the serene island in the east. Although the island is not the most beautiful, the tourists can swim there. As we know that Ko Chik is a pilot project by Renewable Energy Development, people using natural energy which wind energy and solar energy as electricity provided for each house communication by using mobile phone is convenient. Additionally, there are solar cells for all houses on the island and diesel generators if it cannot use electricity. Ko Chik is an exemplar for managing electric energy and environment in term of technology and management. This is an example for cooperation among people. The tourists who have free time on their holiday shouldn’t miss a chance in their life to travel there. Apart from having exquisite food rest by themselves in calm atmosphere and they can gain knowledge from Renewable Energy Development as well.
