The Monument of King Naraesuan the Great

The Monument of King Naraesuan the Great

The Monument of King Naraesuan the Great is enshrined at Chaloem Prakiat park area, Suwannasorn road, Amphoe Wattana Nakorn, Sa kaeo near Highway Number 33 which is slightly opposite Wattana Nakorn district office. Although Thailand has The Monument of King Naraesuan the Great in several places, but this Monument of King Naraesuan the Great in Sa kaeo province has its own uniqueness. The monument is in standing pose on 2.80 metres base, his right hand holding the 1.2-metre-long swords over his head. The pose represents the power of ruling and protecting his people. In 1995, people in Sa kaeo under the lead of Mr. Sanao Tienthong, Mr. Wittaya Tienthong, Mr. Burin Hiranburana and Mr. Kasem Poladej who was Sa kaeo province governor that year. Mr. Kasem gave the order to Mr. Jarupong Poladej who was Wattana Nakorn chief to build The Monument of King Naraesuan the Great which was then completed on 3rd October 1995.The reasons for building the monument in this area is because in the past this area was where King Naraesuan stayed when he fought in the war in the eastern area in 1593. Therefore, the people in Sa kaeo, who respect his kindness for fighting in order to protect Thailand and see King Naraesuan as the spiritual support, praise his bravery and build this monument to cherish the strong feeling and sense of protecting Thailand.
